Frequently Asked Questions

  • Please aim to arrive at First Unitarian Church of Providence between 3:30 and 4 PM.

  • The quick answer: Cocktail attire. When in doubt, err on the fancier side. No white dresses (obviously) and no red suits, please and thanks!

If you want to be “on theme,” then avoid blues and dark greens. Stick to warmer tones: pinks, reds, even yellow or chartreuse would work. Black is also great, as are metallics like gunmetal, gold, and bronze. Imagine a Valentines Day party, with an emphasis on glitz over kitsch -- and in the springtime! That’s kinda the vibe. ❤️✨

Please also note that the weather in May can be unpredictable. The wedding, dinner, and dancing will all be indoors, but you may want to bring a jacket or shawl for transiting between the church and gallery, and anywhere else the night takes us!

  • Unless you are in the immediate wedding party, you are responsible for getting yourself to the church. We recommend using an uber or carpooling, as there is limited parking available on-site. If you do drive, factor in time to find street parking.

We’ll have a bus transporting guests between the ceremony and the reception site, but you’re welcome to drive if that’s your preference. The parking at Machines With Magnets is similar to the church: There is a small parking lot, but you may end up on the street.

  • Probably -- we’re playing it by ear! We’ll still have the bus immediately following the reception, so we may ask it to drop a group of us at Ogie’s Trailer Park, the bar/restaurant where Lindsey proposed to Erin.

  • Due to limited space and venue policies, we are not able to accommodate any guests who weren’t explicitly named on your invite, including children. However, you are welcome to bring a plus one to the Thursday welcome drinks or Saturday backyard party.

  • As close to us as possible, of course! We recommend finding an airbnb in Providence’s Federal Hill or West End neighborhoods. That said, Providence is a small city, and there are plenty of hotels downtown and more options in College Hill, that will be just a short Uber ride away from all the weekend’s events. Find more recommendations under Our City.

We hope you can make it!
